Color Correct Your Video Camera Footage Without Hassles

Color correcting is a hassle in post without calibration instruments during a shoot. Finding inexpensive standardized calibration tools on a shoestring budget is a hair pulling event if you want professional results. This "Pixel Perfect" calibration tool fits the bill as it is a x-rite clone of the ColorChecker Classic. I use BlackMagic Resolve studio for video editing and this software can utilize Pixel Perfect to white balance and color correct the video footage with minimal touch up. Perfect! You want pro results, utilize Pixel Perfect in your tool chain. Like I said, perfect!

For the price, very good

I am trying to set up a color managed photography system. I paid the bucks for a Datacolor Colorchecker Spyder system for my monitor. (worth it). I looked into various systems for color management during editing and found that X-Rite has free software. (A plus) Their color charts though were quite expensive. The standard layout used by many (not Datacolor through) is the Macbeth color chart. It has a specified layour of colors. X-rite uses this layout for its system and their software is built around this color layout on a card. Now the best part? This card matches the Macbeth standard. So it works with the X-rite software!People have complained about the fact this is a card - and yes, it is. But if you care for it between uses that should not be a disqualifier - look at the price fer gawdsakes! And you get 2 for $13.People have complained that is is too shiny... Yep, it is. My solution, apply a matte clear spray. Voila, problem solved. So, is this a perfect solution? well, kinda, sorta, no, not and yes. The gray card on the back and the square on the chart allow perfect color balance with most editing programs (I use On1). The color chart can allow you to produce an ICC profile for your camera. Is it perfect, heck I dunno, but for me, for now, it works. Maybe when I get some money I may pop for a $100 color card in a nice plastic case, but for now at $6 a card, this works. Try it out!

Only Cheap Checker Worth Buying

I've seen a lot of cheap color checkers and in my opinion the majority of them are trash and not worth the money. The Pixel Perfect Checker is perhaps the only one i'd even consider using.Unlike most other cheap color checkers, the pixel perfect is printed with quality inks, good color saturation, and a good matte finish.I'm not sure this checker is official enough to be recognized by software for building corrective LUTs, ie i'm not sure it uses the exact color swatches that Premiere Pro uses for example. HOWEVER, it is still very useful for color matching between cameras, testing out picture profiles, adjusting white balance and exposure on set, etc...i've had great results using it to dial in my a6500 for best image quality. Not very good.

I know they are cheaper then standard color cards, but it feels like these were printed by someone in their garage on a bit more fancy paper. I am not sure if they are color accurate.Due to a papery feel it seems like they are more of a disposable solution then something you would keep in your bag permanently.I decided to send them back - I feel like I could print something like that myself for a dollar.

Way off on Color Accuracy - You get what you pay for

The material is thin, light comes through it, so I shot with a black opaque backing. Still doesn't give accurate results. The gray isn't gray, there's too much blue in it, producing photos that are too yellow-orange.Same issues on the 24 color grid. The white/greys are not neutral. If they can't get grey right, what hope is there that the color squares will be right?Cheap, but you get what you pay for in this case. Don't bother with it. You can get better White Balance shooting a piece of styrofoam.

Pretty cool been using and helps a lot

This cards are awesome, the only improvement I may add is a plastic holder that way you can handle the card while taking your fist picture without worrying about getting you fingers on the colorswish you had more products to see on your page

A must have for copy photography

This is a compact color reference chart suitable for copy photography. Recommended

This is a fingerprint magnet, so be careful if you have to touch the tiles

The colors are not 100% accurate, but will get you acceptable results for the price you are willing to pay
