Easy to use
Very easy to use, reads off most surfaces. We got it for use with a pizza oven to check the temp of the pizza stone and it works great.

works, could be better, but hey, its fairly cheap.
Works.. but its not very sophisticated. Different materials and visual colors, can make it read with considerable error.However.. it paid for itself with one usage to help me diagnose my Jeep XJ, that had a bad (frozen closed) thermoset.. by reading temperature before and after the water flow, after the thermostat.It does read my kitchen oven, and fireplace, with 10% accuracy or better.

Cast Iron Emissivity Setting
If using to measure cast iron pan, set the emissivity value to 0.8. This will report a very close value. I didn’t correlate with any other thermometers, so it’d be nice to get an update on this if someone does it. I just used my oven set to 500F and tested after pan had been seasoning for 45 minutes.
