A Quality, Useful, and Attractive Product

I needed this folding bench for my elderly wife to use in the dressing area near our shower. It replaced a free-standing bench that had to be moved out of the way frequently. It also proved too unstable to provide adequate safety. Because this bench easily folds up against the wall, it obstructs access to the toilet only when being used. Because it rigidly attached to a wall, it cannot topple over during use. This is a well-designed, well-made, and attractive bench. The included hardware is probably adeqate, but I went to Ace for specific screws for my modified installation (see below). The manufacturer actually printed the template on card stock instead of flimsy paper. This simple detail made a big difference during installation.I was not comfortable with mounting this bench to sheetrock; I wanted it positively attached to the underlying studs for safety and durability. So here's what I did.Measuring the template indicated that this bench would mount to a 2" x 10" which could be screwed directly to studs. So, I located the studs and marked the wall. I also marked the ends of the bench because it might not conveniently line up with the studs. This mounting board must be at least as long as the bench plus any extra needed to reach a nearby stud. (If you have to go beyond the bench on one side, you might want to add the same amount to the other side just for a balanced look. Your call.)Drill clearance holes through the mounting board and mount it using a level and 3 or 4 screws per stud (3 1/4" long) that are driven flush with the surface. Attach the template to the mounting board, and drill pilot holes for the mounting screws. The 1 1/2" offset from the wall looks fine to me, and we hang our towels there.

I installed this in the shower for my elderly mother, very easy to install, it folds up and stays in place. It says it's good for 400 lbs I weigh 260 it didn't strain it at all when I sat on it

Beautiful sturdy shower bench

The Home Aesthetics fold down/up shower bench is very well built and beautiful too. This was an important addition to my 97 yr old mothers new ADA roll-in shower.Be aware when installing this bench that although the template for drilling the mounting holes is correct, it does not tell you how far away from a fixed object or wall it should be placed. This resulted in holes getting drilled in the brand new tile that were too close to the side wall. These had to be filled with grout to repair them. Luckily the grout filled holes are hidden under the bench.I am very happy with my purchase, and my mother is delighted!I definitely recommend and would buy again.

A great and sturdy fit for an older shower stall.

Anyone else out there who is stuck with a shower stall with those built-in "jut outs"? Totally useless things until my TEAK Bench (36") was installed. Really works as my old shower stall has NO findable studs behind the stupid plastic/fiberglass molded thingie. Then, like Superman, the 36" teak bench comes to the rescue! Note how the folded-down bench is REALLY supported by the sides of these otherwise useless jut outs. HOORAY! The screws are installed using expanding back support which stabilize any sideways slippage but in no way offer SUPPORT: The jut outs perform that task.

Good size

My husband loves it! It is plenty roomy for him and easy for him to get up and down form sitting and standing. Mad him feel safe. I have used it a time or two myself it is comfortable.

Dangerous!

The media could not be loaded. Had this done during bath remodel. Professionally installed. Several days later, the screws came out the wall while I was sitting on it!Apparently the screws that came with it had only gone about 1/2 into the wood of the studs and with weight just pulled them right out. They were too short and the threads were not aggressive enough for the purpose of holding weight.Luckily the installer was a friend who came back with longer, better screws and reattached the bench. It seems to be holding, but I still feel like it's not entirely sturdy based on the movement I still see. He thinks it's the round part of the attachment.I won't be using this brand when we remodel the other bath
