Great Training Tool – If You Have the Right TechniqueI've had a pair of these paddles for years. I swim at least a mile a day, and they’ve been a huge help in improving my stroke and efficiency. A few key things to know:No straps – which is great because there's nothing to break or adjust.But with that comes zero forgiveness. If you’re not pulling straight back with a high elbow, these will fall off—and you’ll hate them.If your stroke involves waving your hand under you or pulling with a straight arm, these can actually lead to injury. So make sure your technique is solid before using them.Here’s my suggestion: Start by swimming without paddles, using a closed fist drill. With proper form—a high elbow and early catch—you should be able to swim at about ¾ speed, even with your fists closed. Focus on using your entire forearm as a paddle. Your fingers should point down toward the pool bottom, and your hands should never cross your centerline.Once that feels solid, add the paddles. Swim slowly at first. Keep your arm bent right after you extend it in front of you. Watch your bubbles—if you’re entering the water cleanly, you shouldn’t see any around your hand.I swim hard and fast with these (I’m a 62-year-old male, swimming 1:40/100M) and I’ve never had shoulder pain. My chest and back feel the work, but not my shoulders—which tells me these are doing their job without stressing the wrong muscles.If you know how to swim with a high elbow and solid form, these paddles are fantastic. If they keep falling off, that’s your stroke talking. Slow it down, focus on form, and use them to reinforce good technique.When you first go to use these do not put your thumb through the hole. Instead, make a fist and put the paddle up against your wrist, so your fingertips are just wrapped around the edge of it. You’re basically making your arm into a paddle. When you stroke work on your entry, extending your hand away in front of you. An early vertical forearm. And then the catch. It’ll feel strange at first. You should feel pressure on your wrist and forearm. As you get your stroke better then eventually you can put your thumb in the hole and wear it properly. But if your stroke is not proper, it is not forgiving.

These are good, for helping you to keep your hands in an effective position when swimming.

I love these Finis paddles and have been using them for years. I made this purchase when I lost a paddle, but I have been using these for more than 15 years. I like how they remind me when I am not pulling cleanly through the water, by slipping through the water or being pulled off my hand. It teaches one to pull through the stroke! I use it with Freestyle and Backstroke. Another thing I like about them is that they last forever, with no straps to break or snap. Try 'em out!

I saw the positive reviews and purchased these paddles because I wanted to get training equipment. When I initially wore them and practiced my freestyle, it felt awkward -especially in the non-dominant hand. I was trying to focus on gripping it with my thumb and although it didn't slide off, it felt like it would and that sort of took my entire attention through the swim. Eventually, I got to a point where I altered my arm positions and movements until I didn't have to worry about my thumb gripping or the paddles sliding off- and it turns out that this new position/movement is the correct one! Earlier i was only bringing my arms up to my waist before bringing them out of the water before the next stroke, but that was incorrect and caused my paddles to feel like they were coming off. When I adjusted my strokes to bring them all the way to my knees instead, the paddles stayed perfectly in place. So, this is how these paddles are supposed to work- they train you to learn the correct technique. My advice is to practice until you've found this correct position and you will automatically feel comfortable with these paddles.

Great training paddles that let you know immediately if your stroke is off; they will not stay in place and that's the whole point of the design. This makes for a very effective workout. The strapless design is nice for ease of putting them on and taking them off.

I had an older pair of these same paddles, but 1 broke after hitting the ground. This pair is just a bit different looking and I was wondering why, then realized this pair floats (the old ones sank), which is why these are opaque (more air bubbles I guess). Anyhow, great paddles, no straps to wear out or get brittle, 3 different sizes, easy to use.

I love using these paddles! It really helps improve my feel of the water to practice a better catch and pull, and early vertical forearm. It helps me propel myself faster when swimming without putting too much strain on my arms and shoulders. I used fine sandpaper to make the thumb holes smoother and more comfortable. That helps minimize blisters while I learn the correct stroke and not having to grip tightly to stop it from sliding off my hands. Highly recommend.

I really like the design and have no problem keeping them on my hands when swimming and I can swim faster with better form.
