HEAVY DUTY
I needed these to make about a 52" aluminum gate for my porch. I welded a wheel to the bottom of the gate to carry the weight. Didn't need to do that. The gate seems to be fully supported by the hinges, and they actually do a decent job of closing it. The gate isn't really very heavy, but I'm really impressed with the strength. I'd like to purchase one more just to install in the center, but they only come in pairs, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Great product and easy to install, quick shipping was very helpful
The product was great, better value than other places I saw. The dimensions on the posting were flipped but the picture looked exactly as I needed and it was. They were 5 inches tall by 3 inches wide. Worked perfectly.

Set screws. Ugh.
An exact replacement for older hinges on our pool gate. So the self close is a must. Also the benefit of not having to tap new holes is what drove me here. Like many others state. The set screws to retain the gate tension are absolutely pathetic. You will strip them. Period. Gently set them the first time and do not attempt to reset them.

Cheap screws, terrible design for adjusting tension
I’ve installed many hinges and many spring hinges. These are hands down the worst. Defective by design.First, they come with no instructions. Not a good sign. The screws are really cheap and either the head strips out or breaks off or the threads strip out. You cannot install these without making a trip to the hardware store for more screws. If you want to adjust the tension, you need to loosen the Allen screw that tensions the hing bolt. If the hinge is on the right, the bolt is downward and will drop out. The Allen screw will strip once you try to tighten. You cannot adjust the tension once the hinge is mounted more than a half turn. But the bolt pops off the spring at a half turn anyways. Good luck.I have two hinges and cannot adjust enough tension for a 4’ aluminum gate.

Exactly what I need.
I found this as a replacement part of the broken hinge at our backyard fence, the drill holes match exactly so I am really happy about that. Installation was really easy using the right tools. I don't know the durability of it, time will tell.

Screw strips out and not self-closing.
The hinges worked ok as regular hinges, but not the "self closing" aspect. In order to install the hinges, you need to release the spring tension using the small Allen wrench that's included. However, after you install the hinges and try to tighten the spring, the little screw strips out and you are unable to tighten the spring tension again. So in the end, the gate is not self closing because there's no tension on the spring.

Poor design, cannot recommend
If you use the set spring tension that these hinges are shipped with, then you will probably be ok and happy with these. If you attempt to change the tension, it is almost impossible to do so properly without stripping the hinge side threads for the set screws, even if you are careful with them. You pretty much have one shot at adjusting them, after that, the female threads on the hinge are simply too soft and will strip. I ended up with 2 hinges with no self-closing capability. Could have saved myself a few days of shipping and just bought standard ones at Home Depot for half the cost. Disappointed, just poor engineering/design. The look nice though, if that is any consolation.
