Q: Is the laptop allowed enough airflow on the bottom? or is it solid?

The desk top is solid (like fake wood) so it seems to allow adequate air flow for a laptop. This is a pretty big desk and has worked great for everything I have used it for.

Q: does your lap still get hot?

My lap still gets hot, but the cushion doesn't feel that hot. Both the desk and the cushion are thick enough to absorb most of the heat. I think I get hot just because of the unit sitting on me and that alone creates some heat. Especially if it is fairly warm out. When I feel underneath, I don't really feel heat from the laptop. Hope this helps.

Q: It the standard higher in the back than front, angled?

Yes, but only slightly so. It has as much or slightly less than other lap desks I have seen or used. Once in your lap and you are in say a recliner it is flat enough to put a glass of wine on it without fear of it tipping over.
