A great competitive card game, but not for casual watchers of the show.

Please be aware that this game is not meant for casual GOT fans: this card game is much closer to competitive cards games like Magic the Gathering than more casual games like Cards Against Humanity. Fantasy Flight makes another game aimed more towards fans of the show that is MUCH simpler than this game. (EDIT: found here: Game of Thrones Card Game (HBO Edition)With that said, if you're into card games like Magic or Netrunner, then this game will definitely be worth a try. Fantasy Flight Games, the creators of Netrunner and Stars Wars LCG/Miniatures game, rebooted their AGOT card game (hence "2nd edition) to take advantage of the huge popularity of the TV show. With that said, I stumbled upon this game and loved it.If you're interested in diving into a new competitive card game, then AGOT: LCG 2nd Edition is definitely worth a try. However, if you're looking for a casual party game for fans of the TV Series, then this game will be too complex and complicated for a casual fun experience.

Requires three boxes, still cheaper than other card games

Requires three boxes to get full playsets of each card. One box is still enough to play casually. New cards come out fairly frequently (about every month and a half). This scratches the card game itch, but doesn't have a huge barrier to entry like games that have been around longer. $15 every few months is much easier to keep up with than a new 200+ Magic set 4 times a year. This plays way differently than Magic, and the lines of play are somehow both more complex and more straight forward. No more Stack to worry about.Cards are based on the books, not the show, so there are a lot of nice Easter eggs for book readers. The factions all play different enough that the content doesn't get stale. My only complaint is that Selyse Baratheon doesn't have a mustache.

Good game for EXPERIENCED players

A Game of Thrones the Card Game is a beautifully illustrated card game that does an excellent job illustrating the world of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones. As far as quality goes, few gaming companies compare to Fantasy Flight Games, and A Game of Thrones the Card Game is no exception, with cards in nice sealed bags, extra storage space, and a beautiful box.As far as game play goes, however, players be warned. This is not FFG's best game - that being said, it isn't a bad game by any means. If both you and your opponent are experienced gamers when it comes to strategy card games, this will be the perfect fit for you, it's fast paced, requires you to really plan out your turn and think about what you opponent may be doing. However, if you AND your opponent are not experienced in this field, stay away, as the game can become boring and frustrating, with repetitive combat and abilities.I have played against opponents that are very good in this area and opponents that struggle with thinking outside-the-box. Players that struggle in this field often make the game boring for both me and them, because if ever a certain player has many more characters than his opponent, the game becomes a shut out and is not fun to play!

Great for price!

Over all this thing works great! We just plug it in when we hop in the car and pair a phone with it. We personally use spotify for the music just because it is easy! Hubby has his own playlist and I have my own so we can pick and chose what we want to hear.Cons: if you are traveling in a small town or out in the country, or even simply drive under some tall trees, it may make it act a little funny at times. The songs will seem to skip, like a CD or record would if scratched. And on occasion it will slow songs down a bit, just enough to where they sound a little different and it's hard to sing along.

15 power to win, most of the time you will or lose at the very start of the game.

Do not believe the other reviewers, they obviously work for the company that makes this game. This game is sold as a "complete" gameplay experience while it couldnt be farther from the truth. The box only brings 20 cards of each house, 60 being the required minimum in a deck. Also, the game suffers from incredible balance problems, since even though you are supposed to collect

Good name, bad game!

I purchased A Game of Thrones: The Card Game because I had fallen in love with the board game and decided to try my first LCG. The package arrived on time, is well made, and the artwork for the cards is very detailed. That's where the pros end. I had watched the how to play videos, so don't think I was going into this game completely blind. Sitting down with my gaming group, it soon became apparent that the video was unable to describe the complexity of this game. The text on the cards can be maddeningly ambiguous, my buddies and I often having to refer to the rules and glossary to figure out how each card is used, or make up our own rules when we prove unsuccessful. Not only that, but the rulebook and glossary also prove to be very unhelpful, following the same vagueness as the cards. While this claims to be for a minimum of two players, it's obvious from the abilities on the cards that it's made for larger groups, as it's way too easy to become overpowered in smaller games and completely obliterate the competition. I'm sure there are fans out there, and I salute you for your perseverance and fortitude. I would not recommend this game and will not be purchasing the other expansions.

I love this game

I love this game! I used to play magic the gathering about 10 years ago. But haven't played since. I don't know where all my cards went. I got the itch to play again but didn't like the idea of how much money is required to get invested. I am loving the LCG model of game of thrones. I really love the "three front battle" of power, military and intrigue. This game scratched all the itches I had for magic without breaking my bank. I now own every cars available and spent less than $100!
