This item is gorgeous. I originally purchased this wall hanging to hang outside on my front porch. After receiving it and seeing it I knew there was no way it was going outside. It is now hanging in my house to be admired daily. I commend the Haitians who obviously take great pride in their work. They certainly have created a work of art. Thank you!

Piece comes with a nicely printed 3-fold introto the Haitian consortium. Looks like our purchase helps theseartisans under a 'FairTrade' system. Can'tdescribe this wall Tree-of-Life as "Celtic Family Trees", or 'RoundModern Plaque', which sounds like a dental problem. The casualand very whimsical intertwining is not the tight psychotic Celtcknots found in Celt and Viking art. Grabbed my eye this twisted trunk,` snake-like roots rising symmetrically to become limbsand stylized leaves, can't be non-other than Haitian. The skill isall Haitian, so perhaps the wit. It's fun. It strikes chords withinthis old Nordic noodle, and why I had to have my own. In person, it is a treasure of contemporary Haitian folkart. Lucky to have it! As a LIFE symbol, ties it all up for me. I have worked a lot of metal over the years, and can recognize great quality craftsmanship when I see it. Item looks better in person than pictures can portray. Would highly recommend, and great price, what else could you ask for…..

The photo of the "Tree of Life" artwork is a very accurate rendering of how the piece truly looks. It is very carefully crafted and although art is a very subjective matter, it is very beautiful. The photo did convey the impression that the piece is much heavier than it actually is though. It is very light. My only problem, if you could call it that, is that the item is not flat, I assume because it is constructed from thin sheet metal taken from a steel drum and so takes on, for lack of a better word, a kind of 'warped' characteristic. In order to get it flat against the wall, I had to hammer into the wall several thin brad nails, which I then bent over to hold the piece down. Not a major criticism, but it is still a bit clumsy to deal with, however the result is practically unnoticeable. The cost of this item is very reasonable, considering its handcrafted origin and should not deter anyone who admires it from obtaining one. Overall, I am much impressed with the beauty of this piece of metal artwork and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

This stunning piece arrived so quickly and in perfect condition. We placed it above our fireplace and it has become a focal point of the room. It costs a little more than the composite versions but we expected that since it is a Fair Trade item. The artistry is just beautiful - unbelievable what these artists can create with recycled oil barrels!

Ein großer Lebensbaum für die Wand sollte es sein und da bestellten wir ihn einfach. Man sieht die Handarbeit, welches ihm eine Einzigartigkeit vermittelt. Zu dem Baum gab es eine kleine Broschüre, die beschreibt, wie er gemacht wird und welche Handwerkskunst dahinter steht.

The product was exactly what I was expecting, the extra costs for shipping and customs tax was definitely not what I was expecting. The shipping fee should include the customs tax. It worked out to cost as much for the shipping and customs tax as it did for the wall art. A real shame as I will not be buying from Haiti again.
