So first the pros,the doll has vividly coloured hair in three different colours, bright orange, dull peachy orange and pink which is very pretty and unusual.It's soft and thickly rooted, i'm told it's "kiwi nylon" if that means anything to anyone.It is however CAKED in wierd smelling product at the front which needs to be brushed or rinsed out as it's hard and crunchy and unpleasant.Her paint work is lovely and clean with a subtle glitter eyeshadow and a pearly sheen across her whole face.Her body is hefty and seems to be pretty sturdily made and her rubbery hands pop off for easier dressing which I always like to see.She has inset eyes which are painted with a sort of plastic dome over the top which makes them extra shiny. They are however forward facing and rather lifeless which may be a pro or a con depending on how you feel about dolleyes.She also has inset lashes which is a nice touch.She comes with two full outfits including shoes. Both outfits are decently constructed and well tailored, much as I expect from MGA. Some people have reported loose threads and other defects but mine arrived fine with no obvious flaws in the sewing and all the pieces fit the doll fine.So now the cons:Her second pair of shoes, the butterfly heels have an ankle strap which makes them very awkward to get on and off and honestly I felt like I was going to snap that piece trying to get them on. It becomes even harder to get them on when she also wears her gold socks.the boots however go on fine.Her articulation is not great which is strange given how many joints her body HAS. Problem is, a great number of those joints are poorly considered and engineered making them pointless. Her arms only have a single hinge joint so can only bend 90 degrees at most. She cannot touch her own face.Her knees can barely manage 90 degrees because despite having a double jointed peanut joint there's no cutout for the lower leg, meaning the joint cannot bend fully as the plastic of the leg stops it. MOST companies would have a little indent or cutout there to allow the joint to move properly but apparently MGA doesn't understand how double joints work and decided it was "good enough" working improperly.I have no idea what the hip cups do as they seem to do nothing and just add extra complexity to the doll's construction.The upper thigh joints are to allow the doll to sit cross legged and similar but they're 1: extremely stiff when first getting the doll out the box to the point I was worried i'd broken them when I tried to move them and 2: her crappy unfinished knee joint means she can't cross her legs anyway so what's the point?Her head CANNOT tilt at all yet seems to be fixed at a slight angle anyway so she has a perpetual slight tilt to her head that cannot be rectified and she cannot look up or down or even tilt her head coyly to one side for more interesting poses. Her head is huge, hard and very limited in mobility which is wierd because MGA's other doll lines can all tilt their heads at least a little.The pearly sheen on her face can make her look kinda sweaty in certain lights and in photographs.Her stand fits strangely. The "arms" of the waist piece jut out by a good couple of cm from the doll which looks bizarre and wrong. I can't quite figure out why they designed it this way, it looks very poorly considered.The stand does however at least stand upright and support the doll without toppling.The box is annoying to open. The doll section is fairly easy to get open but the part containing the second outfit is glued with extremely tough glue that required a lot of brute force to remove.The clothing pieces are all held in with multiple little plastic tabs which may tear or damage fragile fabrics. Be aware of this.the doll is also tabbed into the box with far more plastic ties than neccisary. My girl had TWO ties around her waist, why?you will need scissors to free her and expect a good 5 or more plastic staples in her head.She has a pancake face. it looks lovely from the front but from the side it's strangely flat and quite bizarre. The bulbous inset eyes don't help the wierd appearance.This is not a doll that photographs well from any angle other than front on.Insummary:for the price, £30 is pretty decent for a doll with two full outfits. The outfits are pretty detailed and a nice blend of fabrics and two pairs of shoes is always nice to have. She even comes with a little hanger for her extra outfit pieces which is cute (though nowhere to hang them so hmm). Considering MGA's other big fashion doll line, the LOL OMG retail for £30+ and have less articulation, only one outfit and painted eyes rather than inset, the price point of the Rainbow High dolls feels honestly quite shockingly low in comparison.the dolls aren't very well engineered, being simultaniously over and under engineered which is a strange feat but they have bright colours and fun fashionable outfit pieces that feel very modern. it's also nice they do come with a second outfit because they are a strange size and can't easily share clothing with other brands. They can fit Barbie skirts but not tops for example, having big wide hips and a teensy tiny upper body with a short torso.I appreciate that we've got an orange doll and a yellow doll, two colours seldom seen in "girl" toys.I do wish MGA had opted for a little more skin tone variation across the line though. Only one has brown skin which is odd for MGA, a company who so often prides themselves on diversity.I like Poppy, but at the same time I feel like she's a little lacking in personality. Her limited articulation is frustrating given how many pieces there are to her body construction and her face is pretty, but sort of blank and lacking in any real expression.But aside from her second pair of shoes, I feel like these are fairly well designed for dressing and playing with. Only the second pair of shoes gave me trouble with dressing and undressing Poppy and the number of pieces made for some fun mixing and matching.

Brought as xmas present for my grandaughter , she loved it and its quality is good

The doll is absolutely beautiful as well as all the accessories she comes with. My one fault is that her left leg is very loose at the hip joint. I have these for display so it’s not too much of an issue but if they are played with regularly just keep an eye on it. I have looked into it and it seems to be a bit of a problem with some of the series 1 dolls. Another problem is the paint job on the shoes it’s the greatest at the back of the extra set of shoes she comes with. Other then that I have no faults with the doll and would recommend her.

Wonderful gift for under the tree this year. Sure my daughter will love it.
