Yes. They are a very good quality, which must be the reason for the relatively high price. They are not very big, but by son loves them.

Do these play well in sand?

Gave it as a Christmas gift so just inside play so far. Think they would do OK in a sand box or at beach.

Do any of the pieces move up and down or are they always in the same positions?

The pieces are very moveable. They move smoothly on pistons, and are of very high quality and durable. I highly recommend them.

What are the dimensions for the vehicles?

Base of vehicles ranges from 4 to 8 inches. Rather delicate for my 3 and 5 year olds but they love them.
