Doesn’t fit well
This is supposed to fit standard 2” x 3” downspouts. Mine are 1 7/8 by 2 7/8 inches. The top is way too loose, and the bottom doesn’t fit. I used pliers to bend the corners of my downspout but the fit is horrible and it leaks. I will admit that one good rain filled the barrel, so it does work. I’m also not happy with the hose. It is thick plastic, so it’ll last. But it gets so tightly packaged that it really doesn’t unroll. When you straighten it, the parts that were bent for packaging purposes are pinched. It was hard to work with, and doesn’t look very good.

Diverter
Love the extra thick material construction, should last many more years over than my last one.

Doesn’t fit properly on a 2” x 3” downspout.
The media could not be loaded. Receiving (upper) portion fits standard 2” x 3” downspout. Lower discharge side opening needs to be 1/4” larger. No as easy installation as described because of this issue. You will end up modifying the lower downspout to fit. A 1/4” larger opening would have eliminated additional work. Don’t recommend this brand.

Works on most Downspouts
We are attempting to collect some of our rainwater this year to help supplement watering at our house. Before we just had a 5 gallon bucket under the downspout to see how much water we could collect and if it would be worth it. Well it was much more than we anticipated and so we wanted something that would help us go directly into the 55 gallon container. This is exactly what we needed. We didn't have a good break spot in our downspout so we needed to cut it in order to attach the Diverter. This took the most time to try and figure out the best height to put it and actually making the cuts to be able to insert it. It stayed well enough once that was done but we decided to glue it in place just to be sure. We also added a screen to the top to help with debris not going down the spout. After that the hose set up was so easy and we now have it directly over the barrel for collecting. The first nice sized rainstorm we collected 20-25 gallons of water. Looking forward to seeing how well it does over the next year.

Easy to install device for rainwater collection
We are just starting to experience the beginning of the rainy season here in California, so this was a perfect opportunity to upgrade our rainwater collection system. This downspout attachment is a simple, easy to install device which anyone with standard hand tools could accomplish in less than an hour. By design, it allows the collection of some, but not 100% of the runoff from the gutter that it is connected to. Which is actually ok, because it prevents debris from finding its way into whatever your collection reservoir is.It is simple to install, but here are a few tips as well as pictures I’ve included which might help:This device is intended to work with 2” by 3” metal or vinyl gutter downspouts, which have a corrugated or ribbed pattern on the sides, so it may not work with the older solid metal square or rectangular types without some modification. My downspout has an offset elbow fitting at the top, which I temporarily removed so I could install this device at the highest point, just below the elbow.I cut about 2 inches of material off the top of my vertical downspout; mine is metal so I used some tin snips.I don’t recall if this is mentioned in the instructions, but it’s important to know that the bottom of the attachment is tapered to fit into the downspout connected below, and the top is sized so that whatever is connected to it from above needs to slip INTO IT (in my case the existing elbow). This means that if the section of downspout or elbow directly above it is not tapered enough to fit, it may need to crimped to accommodate. After fitting everything together, I secured it at the top and bottom with a couple of sheet metal screws. The kit comes with a clear reinforced vinyl hose, which I elected not to use because there were kinks and bends from being folded up in the box (plus the storm clouds were already gathering). I just cut a small piece to use as a flexible transition coupling and attached one end to the barbed end of the fitting with one of the 2 provided clamps. I shoved a 1” diameter Sch 40 PVC pipe in the other end which fit perfectly snug. I then routed my PVC pipe along with a series of elbow fittings to my 55-gallon container which eagerly awaited close by. After about almost 12 hours of continuous rain, the barrel was already overflowing with clean rainwater. All said, I think this product is a simple yet effective rainwater collection solution, at a great price.I hope this review has been helpful, Cheers!

Easy to use, works as designed
I like this rainwater collection system because I have a downspout that causes a big muddy mess. With this installed, not only is the ground under the spout dry, but now I can collect water to water the garden. It was not difficult to install, it just took some doing to cut the spout that was already there. This tool is so handy, I really like it.

Fits down spout for rainwater
This diverter fit perfectly on my standard 2x3” downspout and I did not have the same problem as another reviewer. I installed the intake upper section just like the product photo with the metal downspout fitting inside the plastic diverter. On the lower section, I installed my downspout on the outside of the diverter with plastic diverter fitting inside the lower section of the downspout. This is the correct way to install downspouts so water does not drip out.The plastic is solid and thick. The kit comes with a hose a clamp so you have everything you need. I expect this will last a while.
