works straight out of the package when you add your own batteries
This remote came with a LOT of supported devices and how to program the remote for the various devices, but I thought - TRY IT and VOILA straight out of the packaging, once I had added my own 2 AA batteries, the remote worked instantaneously with my TVs! EASY PEASY! Now I have two of these remotes. I have two TVs, a Samsung 2023 and a Samsung 2024.The remote is very lightweight, in fact adding the batteries almost doubles the weight, it is that light. The buttons are raised nicely, so I might even let my weak, essential tremor in arm/hand mom use this, since she has killed some buttons in our other, older remotes (which is why I needed some replacements). These buttons do not light up, so the remote's 2 AA batteries should last a long time. I love that it uses normal batteries, as when it runs out it is nice to have compatible batteries on hand. If you have the factory provided remote that is supplied by Samsung, which is an evil to use device, this remote does lack some of those custom other buttons, but those aren't things we/I regularly use anyhow. It is nice that something works just as expected! Simple is wonderful! I love this!!In case Amazon mixes my remote with other remote reviews (which seems to be going on...), this is my remote's description:GE Big Button Universal Remote Control for Samsung, Vizio, Lg, Sony, Sharp, Roku, Apple TV, TCL, Panasonic, Smart TVs, Streaming Players, Blu-Ray, DVD, 2-Device, Silver, 33701I hope my review helps someone else.

Simple for Elder Use
It's been working well for a few years. Pretty simple for an elder to use....that's why I got it for my mom. Pretty simple to program as well.

easy to use by senior
Bought this for my 96 yr old uncle. His new tv's remote was micro size and difficult for him to use. This remote was very similar to his old tv remote and he was very happy to get it. Easy to setup.

Happy
Setup was easy, the buttons are nice and big, soft too, and the light up feature is great. At first I was annoyed because the input button didn't have all the available options however I just had to use a different code available for my tv brand and all is well. Instructions could have been clearer as the first code worked just not perfectly. No problems now though.

Like others have stated does not work with all devices
Stuck the batteries in and viola the smart tv works fine. However, trying to connect the Creative labs V2 with code 2606 fails. All the other codes I tried also failed. Some would partially work like activating the Tr (Tremble) or BA (Bass) but, not the simple on/off volume buttons. Ran the auto detection and it flashed 2146. (Have NO idea what this device is and certainly not my sound bar). It's light it kinda works and back light is good. Really trying to cut down on all the remotes. Hate fumbling for them at night shutting everything down. One last con I ABSOLUTELY hate the big bu-tt on this thing. (It's were the batteries go. 2 each AA) your mileage my vary. I didn't get past my mail box. :)

Best Universal for Samsung TV with Spectrum cable box!
I have a Samsung TV and Spectrum cable box. This remote worked right out of the box, without any need for programming. Love that it has just the basic buttons. Got this for my elderly father who is confused by the standard remote that has about 50 buttons on it. Quality seems sturdy too. Great remote!

Awesome - 10 years ago would have cost 2x or 3x as much.
We have had multiple universal remotes. Some by the most reputable manufacturers that have cost 50 to 80 dollars over the years. Those have had their problems and often times don’t last as long as I wish (Durability wise). At less than 10 dollars it was time to give this a try.First thing I noticed was how it looks. I personally like that it is a uniform size. I think it looks better. The silver brushed to looks great. It is just shiny enough. The second thing I noticed was the backlight. Very nice. Bright, but not too bright. Some of the edge buttons are a little less lit. Not bad, you just might have to look a little closer perhaps in dark lighting. I didn’t need to, but it really depends on your eyesight. I also like how the lighting only turns on with the press of a button, and turns off in 10 seconds or less.Setup was super easy. Following the directions was simple to connect a Samsung TV and Blu-ray player, a Bose sound system and a Roku (cannot connect one that uses Bluetooth - must use IR). The provided codes all worked and using the buttons was easy. We have all 4 things connected to this and it is easy to use. I can control all menus for said items.I guess the one thing I wish is that on some of the more expensive remotes you can actually program different controller buttons to different devices without having to use the device buttons at the top (like making the volume always be the sound system and not the TV when other buttons control the TV or Roku). That would be nice, but not expected in a 10 dollar remote.Just a little while ago this could easily have cost more. It is a great value and very easy to use.

Works Well
The offset back (bottom larger than the top) is a nice feature when watching TV in the dark. Previous remotes I have owned, that are symmetrical on the back, makes it difficult to tell if the remote is oriented correctly. The large buttons for volume and channel changing might be a touch too large, even for a guy with a 10" hand span. Might be difficult to navigate for someone with a small hand.Otherwise, the buttons have a good feel to them and the overall quality seems good, especially for the bargain price.
