Multi use vise

Haven't really used but I feel it is going to be good just by the sheer weight of it and the smooth operation of parts for what I will be using for.

Vice

Great vice. Big enough for all but the biggest jobs. 5 stars

#12 metric mounting bolts

Excellent vice. It does what is supposed to and does it well. The clamps seem perfectly parallel (an important basic feature in vices). The manual doesn't exist (not missing from packaging - it does not exist; you won't find it by googling or going to the mfg website). Mount it with #12 metric bolts. I measured it with a digital caliper, and they fit perfectly. If you must use standard, pick 15/32 bolts. I think 1/2-inch standard bolts will be too big. Smaller bolts like 1/4 or 3/8 may work, but they will definitely give you some wobble over time. The manual isn't necessary, though - it's a simple device, and a few minutes of messing around with it will clear up any questions. I'd caution against fully removing any of the rotational tightening pins - I haven't done it myself to see what happens, but there's never any reason to fully loosen or remove them (outside of extreme maintenance scenarios).

5 stars for exceeding expectations for its price.

This is a made-in-China, light-duty hobbyist level vise with the fit and finish (or lack thereof) expected at the price point. I'm not giving it 5 stars on an absolute scale, like it's the greatest vise I've ever used, my rating is based on value for the price.A week before purchasing this Pony vise, I spent almost twice as much on a 5-1/2" Wilton Multi-Purpose model 550P with the same basic form factor. The Wilton arrived half ripped out of its unpadded cardboard box, with a bent T-handle and jaws that didn't come together aligned and could not be adjusted into alignment. SO that went back same day, and I bought this vise for half the price. Had it arrived in one piece, the Wilton model would have had a minor edge in some areas, like nicer machining of the replacable jaw pieces, but overall, quality level of the Pony is in the same ballpark and the packaging had enough filler for it to arrive intact. In the end, I'm happy to have gotten in a $119 vise what I expected from the $212 vise. Of course, if this thing shatters in the first few months of use, I'll be revisiting this review to adjust accordingly, but 1 week into use, everything is good.

Passing grades -for sure

Maybe because it was so inexpensive?Maybe because I was a little upset with the side mission i took on in the garage while I was just trying to get back to the main reason I'm out here with a propane heater just fisssssing away in my happy place? But I. Did. Not. Hold. Back.Clamp part hammer until the claw of the hammer connecting with part mashed the claws into rounded little nubs. Release, turn part, clamp -BFH full contact both hands choked up on that baby like I'm the Babe and this stubborn mule not budging only makes me have to pull it out of the vise and flex my ground game but that's beside the point. The vise.... The poor vise that I got last week LOOKS like it was chained to a cruise liner, dropped as the anchor and just dragged from Jamaica to Iceland at 80 knots (i don't know if that's fast or what i don't know shit about boats least of all anchors...nevermind)This vise doesn't wobble, doesn't have some kind of new squeak or grind. Still clamps dead on zero out . And I used the ol' swivel the bottom to the top different vise trick too.VERY IMPRESSED. I'LL provide pics for anyone 's amusement upon request but I'm not going back out there right now I'm in the tub. Peace

Rock-Solid Stability Meets Versatile Strength in This PONY Vise!

Adding this PONY Heavy Duty Bench Vise to my welding table has taken my projects to the next level. Right out of the box, this vise impressed with its robust construction and no-nonsense functionality. The 5-inch jaw width and the 360-degree swivel base offer an unbeatable combination of grip and flexibility, making it indispensable for a wide range of tasks. The clamping force is nothing short of incredible, promising secure hold without any wiggle, whether I'm sawing, grinding, or doing precision work. It's not just about raw strength, though—the anvil's surface is sufficiently large and polished for those finer tasks, too.Installation was a breeze, and the vibrant orange color gives my workspace a professional edge. This vise isn't just a tool; it's a centerpiece that commands respect and delivers performance. Any craftsman in woodworking or metalworking would appreciate this vise’s value. If durability and versatility are what you seek in a vise, consider this your sign to get it. Highly recommended for anyone looking to invest in their craft seriously.

Junk

I bought this early November 2024 for general use in my garage. In March 2025 I was using it to hold 3/8 rebar as I bent it. I noticed it started to feel loose and odd as I tightened it. Then that quickly turned in to it wouldn't tighten at all. The handle just spun and I could move the jaws in and out without turning the handle.I removed the back and I found the cast piece in the case which holds the threads was completely stripped out and there was fine metal dust all over. The threaded rod looks okay. I realize this is an inexpensive vise but come on, why can't they make things just a little bit better than they do. I think one of the issues is the course threads. I believe the better vises have finer threads allowing more threads per inch in the housing.I contacted Pony customer service, which is actually arrowfastener.com, through Amazon and it's been 2 weeks with no response.I just ordered a more expensive and hopefully better Yost vise from Home Depot who had a better price than Amazon.
