First off, this product is for advanced home automation users who have bought or built an integrated system compatible with Z-Wave devices. It is not a WiFi lock with an app. It doesn't connect (at least not directly) with your phone's Bluetooth, HomeKit, Alexa, Google, etc. You *can* integrate those features, but it will be at the hub/platform level, not at the individual device. The lock just takes commands from the hub, while also communicating state (via handle, keypad or key slot) back to the hub. Also note there is a Zigbee version of the 916, but this isn't it.The installation instructions are clear, but make sure to read them before starting and review before each step. If you managed to get your old deadbolt off the door, you shouldn't have an issue installing this. It took me ~10 minutes and a fair amount of that was using a level to make sure it was sited true after I had largely assembled it.The core lock itself is standard-ish Kwickset Smartkey deadbolt. It includes a tool to rekey the lock yourself. That process is quite painless and simple enough. It allowed me to buy 3 of these locks plus some keyed handles and rekey them to a single key. That is SUPER convient for something bought from Amazon (which is highly unlikely to ship you multiple locks with identical key codes). The action is smooth. You should feel no resistance when using the manual key or interior handle.The lock is rated ANSI Grade 2, which is medium durability and resistance to forced entry. Which means it will keep out casual intruders no problem. It probably won't keep out someone determined to kick in your door, though such a person would probably have an easier time just breaking a window. Note that Smartkey locks are extremely hard to pick, but you probably want to spray some lock lube once or twice a year to keep things clean and to prevent anything from seizing up.Note that the competing Schlage Connect Z-Wave is rated ANSI Grade 1, which in theory makes it more resistant and durable. Personally, those units are fugly and therefore couldn't get spousal approval. YMMV.The keypad is...fine. It generally does not have a problem registering key presses. Feedback isn't great...it acknowledges a keypress by momentarily winking out the number you just pressed. That's hard to see since you finger is covering said number. Still, it's reliable enough that you shouldn't have to worry about it.The motor is not quiet, it buzzes while in action, but should not be unduly loud either. It takes about 3 seconds to cycle the deadbolt. It comes with four AA batteries. How long those last depends on how often you use the motor and the quality of your mesh network, but they should be good for months on end. Kwikset recommends against rechargeables, but those should be fine so long as you're okay with swapping them out more frequently.Tech spec time! This is a Z-Wave 500 (a.k.a. Z-Wave Plus) lock with mandated S0 security (you cannot add it without authentication). This is not the newest Z-wave version (it's at 800 as of this writing) nor does it feature the newest security version (S2). Having said that, Z-Wave is backwards compatible, S0 is secure for real world use. It's still Z-Wave plus, so it won't keep your mesh network from auto-optimizing itself. Like Z-Wave products in general (which must go through certification) it plays nice with everything else.In short, if you know what you're buying, it's a quality product. It looks sharp too.

Nice finish. Works with my Ring alarm system. Easy to setup. 4 AA Battery last about 9 months. Good value.

I had high expectations for this device, and aside from the touch screen it actually hit all of them.* The GoodInstallation wasn't too bad, though I wasted about an hour misunderstanding the auto-door handing (my door is a left-hand inswing and I thought I'd installed wrong until I let it auto-hand it). Connecting via Z-Wave to my 2GIG panel was also easy, and then it immediately appeared in my Alarm.com app as an accessory. I also love that the keyhole is available as a backup, and even better it can be rekeyed to a Kwikset SmartKey.* The BadThe problems started with the weather. When the outside temperature dropped below 40ºF the touch screen completely stopped responding. I could still control the lock from my app and my panel (as well as the manual controls and the key), but the touch screen would not work at all. When the weather warmed up, things started working again.But a few weeks ago, even though the weather has not been too cold, the touch screen is spotty. The instructions say to use three fingers to wake up the device, but this does not always work. It might take a couple attempts, at which point you might accidentally hit a number, which can cause a failed attempt and lock the unit for a minute. This also reports a "tamper" event to an alarm unit. Not fun.But even when the touch screen is working well, it's not great. There's no indication that any number has ever been pressed. I've typed out my pin only to find out that it didn't catch one of the numbers, which requires me to type another number to finish the attempt, trigger the "tamper" event and then try again. If you can't successfully hit the numbers after a few attempts you'll be locked out for a full minute. It's frustrating and in an emergency situation where you must enter your home quickly it's a non starter.I ultimately decided I had to move this lock to a less sensitive area because the chances of being locked out by a touchscreen simply weren't worth it. A plain old dumb deadbolt was less trouble.

We have one and it works great just alittle too loud unlocking ang locking the door

I've purchased two of these locks. I like the convenience of being able to lock and unlock these locks remotely. We have a Brinks security system. I was pleased that these locks synched up to our system easily and can be operated from the Brinks app on our phones. I was also pleased that the locks are easy to install. I'm no home improvement whiz by any means. To install, I just removed the deadbolt locks, followed the easy-to-read and well-illustrated instructions and "viola", the locks worked. The only tool I needed was a Phillips head screwdriver. I followed the directions on my Brinks security panel to add the locks to the system and that was easy too. The lock has a different (my wife says it is odd) feature when unlocking it using the keypad. First, you touch the keypad and two random numbers appear. You have to press those numbers and then the full keypad display appears and you can enter your unlock code. Battery life is good. So, I am pleased with these locks.

Heavy construction so should last on patio door fineMostly easy install. Tip- when installing rear control dont test deadbolt fit with key. This apparently confuses the mechanism. Test fit , adjust if needed then perform its self test. You can then use the key to move the deadboltPaired with zwave alarm fine

Works as advertised. This works with my Vivint system as it has the zwave in order to sync with my security panel.
