I am pleased with this feeder. It closes much different than any feeder I've had, but anyone can figure out how to close it tightly enough!

Q: How much seed does it hold?

It holds a lot. It stands about four feet if you put it on the floor. I gave mine away. Couldn’t use it. It was way too big. If I hung it on my pole hook it would have been so close to the ground that the squirrels could step right up. If I had a tree I think it might be fun to watch it work. But it was very large and I was surprised.

Q: where do you insert the perches on the bottom or on the side?

You don't have to insert the perches, they are attached to the feeder. This is my favorite feeder, it's easy to fill and because of the large perches the cardinals love it as do lots of other birds.

Q: How to install longer perches?

The ones on it all metal squeeze prongs, you could probably form longer ones but this is a small circumference feeder so I doubt larger birds would come anyway.
