Bates Deck Stain Brush - 7.5-Inch, Wood Stain Applicator

This works perfectly.....there is no better (or easier) way to finish a deck. I took the brush outside prior to using, and repeatedly fanned the bristles, then used the enclosed comb to remove any loose bristles (there were only a few). I also snugged-down on all the screws, since others had mentioned possible loosening. The brush loaded well with stain, the coverage was great, and I had zero shedding of bristles. Coverage was superior to stain pads, and rollers. And finally, I could not believe how well it cleaned up; it's good for at least another use....but even if I had tossed it after one use, I would still consider this brush a steal, and worthy of 5 stars....

I bought this brush to apply sealer on my deck. It has made the job so much easier! It holds a good amount of sealer in the bristles and smoothly spreads it. I was able to use a push broom handle that I already had. So far it appears to be well made. The included cleaning comb and can opener are very useful. Very happy with this purchase.

Works well, easy to use, fitment is good. Good general size for a deck stain brush, especially for working around a lot of posts & steps. Holds the stain well, spreads well. Will repurchase if needed again.

Worked great...once I fixed it. First few brush pushes, the for 'tiny' screws popped out and it fell apart. Went into my work bench, got for more larger screws and replaced the tiny ones...screwed them in tightly and finished the deck. 5 stars for performance...0 zero stars for durability...

Having purchased many different deck brush over the years I find this to be the best yet. Our deck is about 900 SF so it’s quite a task to seal. This brush made the job easier & quicker. The wide width enables you to cover the width of one board plus gets down the sides in single strokes. Naturally you will be back-brushing each stroke & this brush holds up well. The angled head takes a minute to acclimate but is much less stress on hands & shoulders once you do. The brush holds a lot of product(sealer) which also makes the job go quicker. Each brush comes with a “comb” for cleaning plus a can opener. I had no use for the comb as the brush was very easy to wash out. I can see where you may need it if your are using an oil-based sealer or even paint. Great product, I will purchase again & recommend to friends.

I was very impressed with this brush after receiving it. It came in a beautiful box with a bristle comb and a key chain bottle opener. Wow, I thought I was getting a deck brush, but this was packaged really well. So the result after applying Valspar water based cedar stain to about 1,100 sg/ft of dock is that it was excellent to apply, very easy to mix and apply, spreads really well and looks great. Also, it drys within two hours in low humidity. It’s a go to for me. Not the cheapest or the most expensive, but it did a great job and I just hope it looks as good in another few years. It say 4 on the can, but only time will tell. South Florida salt air, humid and hot weather will speed up the degeneration. All in all, 5 Star.

Brush is great, but after about 20 minutes the screws popped off and the brush fell off the attachment. Easy enough to screw them back into new holes (making it a bit uneven on the handle).

Works well for staining the deck, comes with a great stain can opener, it has a cleaning comb with it. It holds a lot of stain and is good at working it down in the cracks (not like a small brush) and is as good as or better than roller for getting the stain into small dings in the wood. Very satisfied with it for my use, cleans up well.
