I'm always shocked at how expensive step drill bits are, considering this whole set costs about a third as much as a single step bit elsewhere. I bought this set because of the night and day difference I've found when it comes to drilling steel with cobalt bits versus plain HSS. I honestly haven't been disappointed in the quality of this set as far as drilling goes, which is the most important thing by far. The bits cut quickly and cleanly and don't appear to have dulled in over a year of use.There are a few downsides, but I consider them worth it for the price. First, the size markings inscribed on the bits are of varying quality. Some are more difficult to read than others, and they don't always line up with the steps, meaning I occasionally have to count down from the top to tell which marking goes with each step. Also, the case is in no way aluminum. It's part plastic, part imitation-plastic, but with a metal latch and hinges. It's actually a very nice case in spite of the materials, just don't expect it to take a lot of abuse.

I use drill bits a LOT, and found that if I don't really know what I'm drilling into, I'm better off using cheap bits like these, so I don't ruin a $60+ Unibit. I've used these bits a few times, and they are sharp, drill accurate holes, without chatter, and have little flats on the shank so they don't slip in the drill chuck. The case is very nice, as well. It may be plastic and not aluminum, but the purpose of the case is to protect the bits, as well as anything they may come in contact with from damage, and it does that very well.I did not use them enough to gauge longevity, but they have stayed sharp so far, so I'm going to say average quality or better. 4 stars because they seem very well made for the price.

Used for auto repair and electrical install work since they arrived. Bits cut very fast and clean in thin aluminum and steel plate. Markings are small but legible. Set provides every size that I will never need at a budget price for an average mechanic in a nice box for storage. Let's face it, expensive bits can break and dull just as easily as these can!

This product does the job with ease. I was not sure that this would work through different layers of material but widened the hole like butter.The drills come in a neat metal box which fits perfectly in my drill case.I have no need to buy this product again because it will meet my needs for a lifetime.

First of all, I truly believe the old saying that you get what you pay for....so take this review for what it's worth. The cost of these drill bits was very inexpensive. I don't need or use them all the time. In fact I've only used them once to drill through structural steel framing on my RV to add under chassis storage. They performed very well and cut through the steel like it was butter. I drilled 1/2" diameter holes after setting a pilot hole. I cannot vouge for the longevity or how they will hold up, but if you're a home DIY'er, these should be adequate for most projects. If I ran a shop and used these frequently, it might not be the ticket, but again for the price, these things are disposable. They come in a small metal case to hold them, which is nice for storing. I can't knock them at this time.

One bit broke the first time I used it. The others worked fine.
