I've been battling a salt water pool for years now, Having to replace costly salt cells, panel chip boards. Let alone the maintenance on the salt cell.And the ugly "White Calcium Build-up on my tile". That is the big down side of salt. With strictly chlorine, you don't have that. I live in Az and with the summer heat it can eat up the Chlorine level in a pool. So when my two yr. old $700.00 salt cell started going out last summer, I started using a floater with chlorine 3"tabs. I found that I only payed $89.00 for a season of chlorine. So I removed my salt system and put in this auto chlorinator. It was supper easy to install. The only thing! It works too well. I have a 16K gal. in-ground pool. I started out at level 4, now I'm down to 1.5. It over chlorinates!! Of course my water temp is only 71, in the summer with our solar heat we keep it at 84. So maybe it will go down a little. The only complaint I have is that it works too well. If thats the case, then I think the only option is to take out some of the 3" tabs. I filled it with 8, maybe only use 4.???. If this thing continues to work like it does, then I would give it a 5 + star rating. If your battling a salt system and the maintenance , and the extra cost>>dump it and get this worry free system. And of course you have to buy good tablets with the sanitizer in them for your "free Chlorine level. I'm sold on this unit, It's simple to install and cost effective, worry free. I can leave my home and travel and not have to worry about my pool water and algae.

As an "upgraded model 300" I bought this to replace my authentic Pentair 300 chlorinator. Right out of the box I noticed the item had a non-Pentair label, and it was labeled for model 320, and the unintelligible instruction sheet was for model 320 not 300. As far as I can tell this is a hybrid of the Pentair 300 and 320 designs, made by the small pool equipment company Miori (not Pentair). The Amazon listing did correctly point out the chronic problems I experienced with the Pentair 300, and I can see how incorporating features of the 320 might solve them. However, close inspection of the unit left me unwilling to safely trust it especially for handling pressure-side pool water. The modified hose clamps left a very thin strip of metal (thinner than on the 300) to secure the pressure attachments, which themselves were very soft (easily flexed by squeezing). The fittings looks like true compression fittings (unlike those on the Pentair 300) that should not need teflon tape - which was inexplicably included anyway. In principle I liked the Miori inlet and out valves as improvements on the problematic 300 valves but I saw no assured way to eventually order (or install) replacement parts. Neither the unit nor parts were on the Miori web site.At the end of the day I decided to return it unused and order a true Pentair 300.

This chlorinator seems will built, but the check valve at the bottom of the unit doesn't work, and it doesn't ship with a check valve for the feeder tube. These flaws will allow superchlorinated water to drain back into your pool equipment through the inlet line every time the pool pump shuts down. That's a big no-no for the upstream pumps, filter and heater.Unfortunately, this unit uses a slightly smaller tube size than the Pentair unit does, so simply utilizing the existing check valve isn't an option.

Cracked my 25 year old brittle same model and this was a perfect replacement. Came with multiple fittings and attachments, quick shipping, great chlorinator! Highly recommended, thinking it works better than old one.

So far .. just installed. Installer beware - the instructions that came with mine are completely unable to be understood because it explains how to fit the unit with direct feed 1 1/2" fittings or 2" fittings; even describes a reducer from 2" to 1 1/2" at some point. The thing uses 3/8" TUBING not PVC pipes. So you lose one star because the installation instructions are pure fiction. Also, even the installation video doesn't explain the necessity of using teflon tape on the compression nuts. I didn't actually. Fortunately, the diagram and the general install video explains things (besides being fairly obvious). Though a bit size for the saddle fitting holes in the pvc pipes would have been handy.
