They fit the Big Berkey water filter and work well. There’s no hint of chlorine and the water flow throughIs excellent. Easy to install and a great value.

For my Berkey and the flouride is so bad for you so I ordered these and keep ordering to replace because Flouride is detrimental to your health.

Fluorine, the 13th most abundant element in the earth’s crust, due to leaching, “is also one of the most widespread contaminants of surface and ground water (Miretsky et al., 2008).” There is also considerable scientific evidence that this condition is further exacerbated by the anthropogenic activities of various industries manufacturing organofluoride compounds used in semiconductors, aluminum, glass and phosphate fertilizers, to Name a few; fluorine is also industrial waste. ‘Millions of people around the world suffer from or are prone to health problems caused by high concentrations of fluoride in drinking water sources.’That information provides the impetus to start me wondering why fluoride is then added to the drinking water of civilized countries; but that, and my cynicism, are topics for another day.In any event, to avoid those health problems, it would seem logical to me that an effort should be made to remove fluorine from the water I, and my family, drink.Since Larayci references Berkey, I will feel free to do so also. Laracyi’s fluoride filters for gravity fed water filter systems appear very similar to Berkey’s PF-2 fluoride filters. But it’s what’s on the inside that counts; not all filters are created equal.Larayci uses Carbonate Apatite as the fluoride absorbent rather than the alumina Berkey uses. Although alumina is known to absorb fluoride at a high capacity, Laracyi states that carbonate apatite is safer. According the EPA, activated aluminum (alumina) is one of the best ways to remove many contaminants, including fluoride, and does so without leaching into the water. It does not pose the dangers that non-activated aluminum does. Laracyi appears to be making the case for the use of either a less expensive material, or one more abundant. As to the efficiency of carbonate apatite for absorbing fluoride, it’s hard to glean that information without reading a scientific journal. It’s difficult to even find any substantial information about carbonate apatite itself, although to the best I can ascertain, it’s bone char. Laracyi does show a third-party testing report from the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) agreement; basically, an international body of signatories that provide accountability for various testing and test results. However, the provided document does not include specific information as to what was tested; we’re required to take Laracyi’s word for that.In so far as affirming the assertions made by Laracyi, or those of any manufacturer/seller of similar filters, specialized tests are required. What I can validate is that the filtered water is crystal clear, fresh tasting and at least in those terms, as good as bottled water, an unregulated industry.I’ll give Larayci the benefit of the doubt and rate these 4-stars even though I get a sense of some marketing obfuscation; their fluoride filters are also considerably cheaper than Berkey filters (in every sense). I will also note that by simply shaking their filters, it’s obvious that they aren’t full of the absorbent. When I shake a Berkey PF-2 fluoride filter, nothing moves, because according to Berkey, it’s packed tightly with alumina for highest efficiency.
