A very nice compass; Great value. I paid less than four dollars for this compass, and was surprised by the apparent excellent quality. The magnetic needle operates very similar to much more expensive compasses--no binding, very smooth, good damping. The clear yellow plastic makes it easier to find than other clear-plastic models. Generously sized, and with a decent magnifying glass built in. Not sure what it's called, but the part that turns to set your direction feels tight, yet turns easily and smoothly. I just bought 3 more for friends to use.Some time ago I bought a pack of 10 cheap liquid-filled compasses from another vendor for less than $20, expecting the magnetic needles to at least reliably point to magnetic north...WRONG!!! They turned out to be unreliable; the magnetic needles seemed weakly magnetized and not very free to rotate. The compass I am now reviewing has none of those problems. I think you will be pleased with it if you buy one.

I brought it as a backup for night hikes, and yes—it worked perfectly. Lightweight, reliable, and gives peace of mind when heading into the unknown. A solid little tool to keep around.

Love the color and size but the needle seems to get stuck quite a bit. Not sure if it is supposed to do that or not. A little shake and it is unstuck. It is annoying when things do not work just right. Could be a one off design issue with the particular one I purchased or it can be an issue on them all. Not sure.

Easy to use. With good durability and good value for money. It's perfectly usable for land navigation. I find it accurate.

POS. Doesn't point north. I bought a 2-pack and the two needles won't even align. Save your money

Fun compass for training on use of the instrument.

My scout used this to navigate in the woods and was successful! The ability to orientate the compass to the map and then know the degree for the direction to walk was huge.This compass held up well in an 11 year olds hand, was accurate enough to get her all around the trail that was set for her troop, it was easy enough for her to learn how to use it in one day, and is light weight enough to keep in her backpack for anytime she needs a compass.Thank you!

I picked this up for my 11yo's hiking backpack. It's just an inexpensive map and orienteering compass. I would have like a booklet.I did test it out again my Silva and it was fine.
