I had a difficult time getting this device set up for first use until I realized that you need to attach to it given the IP address in the instructions AFTER you have already connected a device such as a smart phone to its default WiFi SSID. You will need to disconnect your phone from its normal WiFi access point, and find the router's WiFi name in the list of SSIDs, and connect to that. Then you should be able to program the router.I first tried to use the device as a simple repeater, to extend my other routers WiFi range; and this worked well and did work to extend the range. However, as you might expect, putting another device in the middle of the signal path, there was a little degradation in speed which is not significant if you are only using this for one way communication, such as connecting to a smart TV. I would not however be as sure about using the repeater function with video and online games that are time critical; the added delay might not be acceptable.I next set up the device to act as a router. Before committing to replacing my old router with this device, I plugged this router's WAN port into my existing router (a configuration that this device supports) and tried out some of its features. The configuration took a few tries to get right (you can easily reset this router to factory settings if you make a mistake), and after that the router did indeed act properly, using my existing/old router as a gateway to the WAN/internet.My reason for NOT replacing my existing router with this device is that there is no support for DHCP reservations (which allow you to assign a specific IP address to some of your wired and wireless devices). Without this function, it is random which address get assigned to devices, which does not work for me in my network environment. Another reason that I feel I cannot use this device as my primary router is that it has only 2 hardwired RJ45 connectors. In my existing setup I have 4 hardwired devices going to my router. To use this device as a replacement I would need to purchase an additional network switch, or two, to handle my current hardwired requirements.I have no need for the AP mode, since my goal was to avoid running additional cables out of my office into the rest of the house; there is no really good access in the walls or attic for running these cables, and so wireless only is required to service the far reaches of the house.This device does work well, for me, as a wireless repeater and that is how I will be using it. Meanwhile the search for a suitable replacement for my old and aging router continues.

I got this to use as a repeater. I wanted to extend the range of my home wifi.Repeaters are interesting. They are actually a separate network that you connect to if you are out of range of the first. There isn't really a mechanism as far as I know for connecting to it automatically unless you have the ability to set that up on your devices that you are connecting with.I ran the setup and it looked like it was working at first but I was just still in range of my old network. I found I had trouble connecting with either a wired or wireless connection using the router, even if the router was wired into the wall. I've since unplugged it until I have more time to try again.The instructions were not too hard to follow but they were a little challenging and you have to follow a link to a pdf. Not all instructions for all of its functions have physical instructions included. Not a deal breaker but not ideal either. The instructions overall are pretty through but there were some options that I didn't really have a good idea how to answer so I'm assuming that was where my configuration went south.I'll try again soon and update if I get it working, but so far my experience has been frustrating for this - admittedly non standard - use case. I have not tried to use it as a wireless router, but I also didn't need it for that purpose.

Great router, easy to set up. No complaints yet.

This router is fairly basic in terms of settings and customization, but it functions as advertised and provides a stable connection. It’s suitable for simple network setups, though more advanced users may find the lack of configuration options limiting. A decent option for straightforward, everyday use.

This router worked as it should and did the job. Decent router, I have no complaints. Easy setup.

I am using this router in Repeater mode, as a bridge to an off-site server stack. So basically, this is allowing my wired servers to connect wirelessly to my Local network.At this time, it seems like the connection is limited to only 100Mbps, which is not close to the gigabit speeds the port offers, or the 1200 that the AC1200 rating implies.The reality is that out of the box, this is not what a general consumer would expect. Maybe there is an issue with its compatibility with my 2.5G switch, or something preventing faster wireless connections, I do not know what it might be.Despite my observations, this does seem like a quality product for an average consumer
