Must have gotten an old batch...
Excited to find these because most grocers only carry the split pea variety. Soaked these overnight and even after 3 1/2 hours of cooking, they were still very firm. Not "tooth-breaking" firm but chew until your jaw hurts firm. I didn't soak in salted water so I can only assume I received an old batch. Disappointing.I updated my review to reflect the customer service team for this product reaching out to me immediately to remedy my past order. They did not ask me to do this but I give kudos where they are due. I should have reached out to them before I jumped the gun and posted a negative review. Food to Live is a company I can respect.

Sprout Fast
I bought these at the end of 2018 (and again recently) to sprout in combination with the Easy Sprout and, well, they do sprout and it doesn't take long. I've not paid complete attention to the number of days as I keep two sprouters going to have a steady supply but I'd say I start eating them in about five days. Perhaps I wait too long for all I know, they do get long and continue to sprout after I stop rinsing them. I've never sprouted anything else so I couldn't say how they compare to other peas or anything else that is used in sprouting.

As advertised
Have purchased this product previously and seems to have a high percentage of sprout rate. No complaints or issues.

Sprouting is inconsistent depending on warehouse source *Raising from 2 stars to 3 stars*
Update about 2 weeks later (11/27/2024): Food to Live sent me a replacement 10 lb. bag of the peas that came from their warehouse. They are sprouting better (picture 4) than the bag sent from Amazon (pictures 1-3). I thought about changing this to 4 stars, because this batch from Food to Live's warehouse definitely sprouts better. However, I left it at 3 stars because of the overall hoops I had to jump through in order to get a quality product. I've had mixed results (from various companies) on how well items have sprouted that I've bought from Amazon. So, I guess it's going to be hit or miss when buying sprouting seeds from Amazon. I do appreciate Food to Live's help and willingness to provide a replacement product in order to provide customer satisfaction. That speaks well for them.Update a few days later (11/14/2024): I contacted Food to Live, and they are generously sending me another bag at no charge. This bag will be shipped from their warehouse. I am wondering if Amazon isn't storing these properly, and if that's causing them to not sprout well. I will try out the bag shipped by Food to Live and see how they do compared to the ones I attempted to sprout that came from Amazon. The customer service agent with whom I messaged was very friendly and helpful. She did send me a sprouting rate for the bag of peas they'll be sending me from their warehouse, so I guess they do track that information but just don't put it on the package.Original review (11/11/2024): These shouldn't say that they're sproutable in the description. I specifically bought these to sprout, not to cook. Yes, technically they can sprout, but there are no instructions for sprouting or indication that these have been tested for sprouting (i.e., no data indicating germination rate, origin, or germination date). The sprouting results have not been impressive. The first two pictures are sprouting results from 1/4 cup Food to Live green peas (this product), 1/4 cup speckled peas, and 1/4 cup mung beans (speckled peas and mung beans are from different companies -- competitors). This first batch was harvested about 5 days ago. The third picture is another batch (1/4 cup) of Food to Live green peas (this product) and 1/4 cup French lentils (from a different company) that I harvested this morning. There is quite a difference in the yield in both batches. I started the sprouting process for all the legumes at the same time for the first batch, and also for the second batch, so everything was on the same schedule and received the same treatment.I'm giving this product two stars because, despite very little sprouting, the peas taste good and seem to be of good quality. I just think it's gimmicky, at best, and a bit misleading to list "sprouting" in the description when they don't appear to be tested for sprouting and no instructions are given about sprouting. I have a message into customer service about what my options are.I don't recommend buying this product for sprouting. I wish I had not committed to the 10 lb. bag. In the future, I will be buying green peas for sprouting from companies that are in the sprouting business.

Germinates well, pea microgreens grew nicely without soil, here's a method and nutrients that worked
These taste great as microgreens in soups and stir fries. Green pea microgreens grew more tendrils than speckled peas so the plants clung together (a bit annoying during harvest). We harvest pea microgreens 9-12 days after soaking the dry seeds. We grow these indoors in 8.5x11 sprouting trays without any medium (no dirt!). The peas sit directly on the BPA-free plastic mesh.First, we wash and soak these overnight in 6.0-6.4 pH water (tap water + citric acid). For the first 3-4 days, we kept them in the dark and moist by spraying with pH 6.2 water. A 5-pound weight was kept on the peas (for each 8.5x11 sprouting tray) during this blackout period. For the next 5-8 days, we put the trays in sunlight (grow light) and bottom water using a pH 6.0 nutrient solution.Horticulture experts recommended 50-100 ppm of nitrogen and 90-110 ppm of epsom salt for hydroponic microgreens (initial few weeks after sprouting). We followed that advice and it works great. These peas thrived with a nutrient solution with 6-6.5 pH and 900-1100 ppm total dissolved solids, made of:140 ppm water (my tap water is 9.5 pH and 135-145 ppm)800 ppm of MaxiGro 10-5-12 (about 1 tsp per gallon) -- which made 9.5 pH water go to 6.0 pH60 ppm of Epsom Salt (since MaxiGro provides about 40 ppm per 800 ppm, we reach 100 ppm)MaxiGro 10-5-12 is 10% nitrogen, so 800 ppm provides 80 ppm of nitrogen. I chose MaxiGro because it provides 9 out of the top 12 nutrients used by plants. And its NPK ratio works great for microgreens. We start with a mild nutrient solution on the first day of bottom watering and gradually increase the ppm as the plants grow (always within recommended ppm). TDS meters cost 14 bucks and make all of this very easy.

Tasty and nearly 100% sprouted
The peas do take longer to sprout than say radish seeds. But I had no issues getting them to sprout and great not spicy flavor.
